2005-02-06 11:34 PM please sign and return You never know what you’re going to find in your mailbox. I’m doing another gift exchange through an on-line community I’m a part of, and have been waiting for a Valentine’s Day package to arrive. But Friday I received a large white envelope filled with papers dotted with arrow-shaped “please sign and return” post-it notes.
I’m going to be published in a book! Hee! I, and about 20 other women that is, writing about the topic “Young Christian Women in Search of a Feminist Faith,” published by Pilgrim Press. I’m so proud of my sis-in-law, who is editing the book, and I’m proud to be a part of it. She’d asked me to write for it, and I put it off for a long time. Part of it was just not having time, part of it was feeling weird about the possibility of writing something that wasn’t right for the book, and putting my SIL in the position of writing my first rejection letter. She came back to me several months after the deadline and said, “We have a lot of great essays, but we have nothing about motherhood. Can you please write something for us?” So I decided to go for it. But even then, I put it off. I finally decided that whatever happened, that it would be good for me to get some thoughts down. The process is the thing; the product is secondary. But of course, I’m glad it will be a part of the collection. I cannot wait to read what the other women have written. I wish we could all get together for a big bash, but it’ll have to do, sitting side-by-side within the pages of a book. Oh believe me, this is big-time publishing. My payment is two (2) copies of the book. Ha! Who wants copy #2? (Yes, I’m going to give half of my riches away.) Read/Post Comments (14) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
