hold it up to the light

Hubby and I went with some clergy friends last night to see David Wilcox in concert. My face hurts from grinning the entire evening. He preached about 35 sermons in those two hours. Deep, good stuff. Filled with hope that's not cheap and sentimental. If you don't know him, get to know him!

He seems to go from song to song rather spontaneously as he feels led. It sets a very relaxing, almost reverent tone to the whole thing. I don't know his music backwards and forwards or anything, but at one point (after a few beautifully melodic songs with kinda heavy content) I turned to R and said, "He should play 'Moe' next" (a humorous song about a man with Three Stooges hair). R said, "Nah."

Sure enough! The very.next.song.

David and I are just so right there.

Certain artists make me want to work harder and more passionately as an artist/person, and DW is one of those people. Who are yours?

It's going to be a great few months for music. Carrie Newcomer is in town in April. In May it's a workshop with an Indigo Girl and her Dad, and of course, the Boys from Dublin. Good times.

RM: Have I mentioned here that I'm going to see the Boys in May?
Gentle Reader: Yes, RM, only about 500 times.
