happy birthday, reverendmother

...the blog, that is.

This site is 2 years old today. What an auspicious date for milestones! reverendbaby, I'm looking in your direction

My first post was a very strange cataloguing of Christmas songs. In honor of that humble beginning, here is the RevGal Friday Five, similarly themed:

1) If you had to choose CDs as a soundtrack for the Christmas season, what would they be?

Vince Guaraldi Trio's Charlie Brown Christmas
John Denver and the Muppets, A Christmas Together
Jim Morgan, Advent (piano solos)
Winter Solstice 1, 2, and 3
Ella (Fitzgerald) Wishes You a Swingin' Christmas

2) How do you feel about singing all the verses of "The First Noel?" (Six in our hymnal, but apparently there are nine.)

I do love that song, but six or nine verses seems like a bit much.

3) "O, Come All Ye Faithful" has a lot of verses, too. Which is your favorite?

"Sing, choirs of angels" is my favorite because the descant is glorious.

4) What music do you play while opening presents?

See #1 above, and I also love Mel Torme's Christmas Songs

5) Which carols do you consider to be Christmas Eve essentials?

Once in Royal David's City, Silent Night, Joy to the World! (although we're singing that on Christmas day)

It's a bit of a dark horse, but I love Hark the Herald Angels Sing on Christmas Eve as well.

and a Bonus Question:

6) What, if any, is your favorite secular Christmas song?

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Hands down. I have a fondness for melancholy Christmas songs, which you will see if you visit my first entry.

Which baby do you think will arrive first?
