first Sunday back

If working from home/with M in the office/with M being babysat is logistically tricky, Sundays are the really tricky things. Yesterday went well. M and I left for the church around 7:30, in time for me to feed her before the worship service, which she spent in the nursery. Apparently she was very comfortable there.

The Sunday School class that had been meeting in my office graciously relocated, so I could feed M and play with her between services. I have basically told everyone that I won't be teaching Sunday School as long as I'm nursing. R and C showed up before second service to get a seat right behind mine (we clergy sit on the front row). So I got to spend the service with each of the girls on my lap at different times. The last time I'd worn my clergy robe, M was squished up underneath it, literally in a fetal position. Yesterday she was splayed out on top of it! Hard to believe. She made nary a peep the whole service--even fell asleep during Senior Pastor's sermon. After the service I fed M and we all went home. I guess it will work.

During the afternoon C napped while R did yardwork. I made lasagna. I managed to figure out how to cook with M in the sling in a position she enjoyed. Nice.

Then in the evening R and I helped set up the labyrinth, which I'd been meaning to learn how to do. We brought the girls with us. C ran and danced on it as we pulled the creases out of the heavy canvas. While we arranged the candles around the perimeter. M laid down in the center. The late afternoon light came in and cast a shadow just so. I wish I could explain it.
