Tomorrow morning I drive to Small City Down the Interstate to meet Laid-back Clergypal. (Behold how many blog-pseudonyms I can cram into one post!) Last time we met before Christmas, and I was a huge house. This time he'll be able to meet the former occupant of that house. We're meeting at the IHOP. Sweet!

Then I'm back for a few hours, then I leave for the Presbyterian Uber-Committee meeting. I'll need to leave by 4:30 or 5 because traffic bites in Your Nation's Capital. I won't be home until 10, probably, at which time the divine miss m will let me know just how displeased she's been with only the cup to sustain her all that time.

Friday morning is the Mother's Day program at little she-who-is's preschool. The invitation said, "The children will sing and we will have a special snack." What more does one need?

And yes, of course I will cry.

Then miss m and I leave right from there to Small City Over the Mountains where a few members of my clergy cohort group will present at a regional conference for the denomination. After the presentation I turn right back around and drive home.

After some fun with the family over the weekend, I will leave Mother's Day evening for several days with the whole cohort group. This is the group of graduates of Crusty-ol' Theological Seminary who represent diverse ends of the theological spectrum and who get together to hash things out. We even have a grant for this purpose!

Before the group meets I'll see some other friends. I'll spend Sunday night with Professor/Mentor, who finally e-mailed me back after untold months of irritating silence. On the upside, she now has tenure. Then Monday I am especially excited to rendezvous with several RevGals!: Songbird, Cheesehead, St. Cass, and reverend mommy, all of whom are attending Mondo Preaching Conference, aka Festival of Homies. I. Can't. Wait.

--------

The other day I was reading little she-who-is a book of Bible stories for children. We were reading about Moses and David and Daniel and I suddenly had the urge to write a children's book of Bible stories that focus explicitly on the women in the Bible, for C's age and slightly older. I found this book, which is for older kids and only focuses on the Hebrew scriptures. There's also this one, but it's also for older readers and just seems to use a paraphrase of the RSV rather than telling the story in a different way. What I picture is a book in which the stories would be accessible to her age and the illustrations bright and engaging, but neither would be cutesy.

I have no idea how to write for children, but I do think there's a cool book in that idea somewhere.

--------

I mentioned several weeks ago that I'm going to be moving my reverendmother site one of these days. An online friend who does graphic design has been working on a banner for the site. She showed me a couple of options she's working on and I'm totally psyched.

--------

Church Saint watched the divine miss m today. I forgot to send her with diapers, and naturally she had a poop explosion. I found the two of them on the back porch, M sitting on a towel wearing the one and only cloth diaper that has ever graced her little tushy. Church Saint dug it out of a drawer somewhere and fastened it with real-live safety pins.

--------

I had a splitting headache this afternoon and came home and crashed on the couch with a couple Motrin, so of course C would have issues a-plenty and be dying for Mommy time, and of course M would have serious teething pain that would kick in right then.

R is a great dad and husband.

I feel better but it's time for bed.
