2006-06-05 1:45 PM wow Ten years ago I was living in Houston working for a technical writing, training and consulting firm.
One spring day I was driving home from a client site, and I was feeling surly and restless because I didn't want to be writing policies and procedures for big petroleum companies anymore. A song came on the radio that both encapsulated how I felt and also seemed to be the voice of the Spirit, saying, "You don't have to do this anymore. Find where you are called to be." The artist had an unusual name. I repeated it to myself all the way home so I could write it down and look for her CDs. A month or so later, I found out that she was playing at a music festival in the hill country, the same weekend R and I were going to be at a church retreat about an hour away from the festival. She's been my favorite singer-songwriter ever since. She's calling me on my cell phone in 10 minutes to solidify plans for her to play and lead a workshop at our church this fall. I'll be darned!
