I've never been so ashamed of being a woman and an American as I am this week. Not even during the 60's and earlier, the age of the "Ugly American" when I could say, "You're wrong. we are better than that." Today all I can say is, "We're just as ugly as everyone else, no better than any of the other cruel, heartless, vicious torturers." Where is our moral superiority now?
