Fox TV is being fined more than a million dollars for the airing of an indecent show, Married by America by title. I see it as a perfect little example of the self-righteous right's hypocrisy.
This is the same right that extols the virtue of shielding our children from indecent music and TV, by coercive law if necessary, pulling books from library bookshelves and forbidding the reading and teaching of certain authors [wonder when they'll discover Shakespeare?]. The very same people who extol the virtues of heterosexual marriage and abstinence, and who try to block the distribution of condoms and sex education. Who, when confronted by explicit programming shown at prime time when children would likely be watching, want to duck and cover behind the First Amendment. That very same First Amendment they would abrogate by decency laws and control of the internet. None so blind as he who will not see. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
