Though I'm still interested in issues political, I flinch and cringe when I read the Washington Post headlines or the polically-oriented blogs. The poison from the last elections, the lies, the venial acts, the greed and stupidity, have negatively conditioned me. It's difficult to read, think about or write about issues in the current political scene--everywhere you turn, it seems there's a horror story of deceit and manipulation and neo-lysenkoism. I suppose it was ever thus, but this is my time and era, and I had expected better of my generation.

I imagine I will be back to commenting on current events when we become so inured to the evils around us they once again become background noise. How many days did you say until Bush is out of office?
