In my opinion, tobacco should be within the purview of the Food and Drug Administration and should be a controlled substances. It is addictive and destructive.

Nor do I think we should subsidize tobacco farmers for their financial losses. Too bad if tobacco farmers have to switch to some other kind of farming. They could receive aid for the year or two it would take them to convert to some other crop; that's all.

I cannot understand why other harmful substances are controlled, but not tobacco. It's past time. I watched the love of my life die from lung cancer; no one should have to die that way.
