I went outside as soon as I got up this morning.

Report on garden: No tomatoes yet.

The sky clouded over and the air got damp. By the time I had finished cleaning the refrigerator, it was raining.

And it's all my fault, because, you see, I had watered the garden and washed the car. Heaven alone knows what would have happened (lightning? hail? tornado?) if I had watered the lawn, too.
