2006-01-23 4:36 PM Backing into Parking Spaces Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (6) When you approach a parking space, you can see vehicles and people and pets clearly. So I pull past and back into the space. Then when I get out of the store or library or wherever, I'm not trying to look over my shoulder and see out of the mirrors. I just drive out and go on my merry way.
I think the habit was developed during the time in my life when I drove an 18-wheeler and then drove a transit bus. You cannot see behind either of those vehicles and you do not back up unless you have a spotter. You have a clear field of vision when you're parking your vehicle and you maximize your usage of space. Pull-through spaces are ideal, of course, but not very easy to find. It's safer to back into parking spaces and it suits my temperament (when I'm ready to go, I don't want to hang around). Does that answer your question?
