2006-01-26 1:36 PM School Bus Accident Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (3) The school bus accident in Lake Butler, Florida, was the kind of accident every school bus driver dreads.
Why? Because the bus driver and the driver of the car behind her did everything right, everything by the book. And still 7 children died, incinerated in the car fire, plus 2 on the bus were critically injured and 3 more seriously injured. The school bus driver was thrown from the bus. The only one to come out of it with minor injuries was the truck driver who hit the car, shoving it into the bus. There was evidence of little or no braking by the truck driver. And there wasn't a thing the school bus driver or the car driver could have done about it. Today the grandfather of the 7 siblings died of a heart attack. My guess is that he died of grief and pain. It is not known yet if the truck driver was talking on a cell phone, overtired or under the influence. He has had two arrests, and 4 traffic citations since 1999 (of course, prior behavior is not evidence of present culpability). Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
