2006-04-08 8:01 PM Tomatoes Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (5) Today was transplanting day--3 Early Girl, 3 Celebrity, 3 San Diego. The Early Girls should be ready the first week of June, barring a spate of cool, cloudy days.
I've never planted the San Diego variety before, but the little information notice posted above the plants said that they are descendants of plants that survived a major VFN episode and bred true. We'll see. Nematodes have been a problem in the past and, of course, tomato worms against which there is no preventive. The cure is to be vigilant and pick them off as they appear. I went out after dinner and gave them all a last drink of water and soothed their jangled nerves with a tune or two. Can't baby them too much, I always say. Come sing a song with me.
