5 Weeks and Counting

It has been 5 weeks plus a few days that I planted my tomatoes. Clearly there were some ringers in the garden. I planted 3, 3, and 3 if you remember: Early Girls, Champions and San Diegos.

Well, the Early Girls are what the names on the containers proclaimed them. All three are about 24 inches high, with light green sparse leaves and several flowers.

However, the Champions and the San Diego are who knows what. Two are like each other, three more look suspiciously like more Early Girls and what on earth is that sixth one? A tall spiky thistle? With yellow flowers. I guess it's a tomato, but I have no idea what variety.

Oh, well, when you have adopted children you take what you get. So long as they are edible, I won't quibble. My kingdom had the right phylum, the class was in order, you can tell the family ran to the same genus, the species was identifiable, but the variety is...well, variable.

Grow on!
