2007-01-11 1:02 PM Musical Lunch Break Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (8) I'm planning a service for the last Sunday of January. I get to choose the hymns we sing, as well as the readings.
So I borrowed a hymnal from the church and started paging through it during my lunch hour. I had a great time singing myself through so many of the old familiar hymns and trying one or two new ones that looked interesting (wish I had a keyboard with me!) Now Thank We All Our God For the Beauty of the Earth Holy, Holy, Holy Now the Day is Over We Gather Together (We Sing Now Together) Now Thank We All Our God Come, Ye Thankful People, Come This Little Light of Mine When Israel Was in Egypt's Land Love Will Guide Us Hail the Glorious Golden City Follow the Drinking Gourd Oh, Freedom This is My Song (Sibelius) A Mighty Fortress Amazing Grace O God, Our Help in Ages Past Come, Sing a Song with Me Enter, Rejoice, and Come In All People That on Earth Do Dwell Sleep, My Child Come, Come, Whoever You Are I felt refreshed and inspired after my musical lunch. Amazing how the old familiar tunes--even when the words irk my sensibilities--soothe and uplift my spirit. Read/Post Comments (8) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
