2007-01-19 3:34 PM Satisfaction Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (4) There's such a solid feeling of satisfaction when coming to the end of the work day and the end of the week to look at my desk and my list of things to do -- and I have done them all, or they are in the works, or they are set up ready to go for Monday morning.
There have been many times when I have flown out of the office, with the desk left a-jumble and the tasks in mid-confusion, because I simply had to leave to take care of some family or personal emergency -- or I was too exhausted to continue, to clean up and set up for Monday. I like having a job that has fairly well defined boundaries and I know I have the skills to accomplish all the tasks necessary to my position (and more). When I was a teacher, working with children and teacher's aides all day, there was never the feeling of completion, of solid accomplishment. I was always ruminating on how I could better present the lessons, how could I have helped that child in distress, how I would explain the tasks to the aide...it was never finished, it was always in flux, a chaotic environment (chaos theory is the reference here). Children are always beings in the process of becoming, recursively beautiful, endless in variation... Have a lovely weekend -- my wish for you.
