But look at what the power of words has done, call it "spin" or "redefinition" or what you will. The use (or misuse) of words may be our undoing yet, as the media saturation reaches deep into everyone's lives and twists reality and truth into something unrecognizable, until bombing the human race into oblivion and calling it the "Rapture" or "Armageddon" seems the right thing to do.
A quotation, attributed to Karl Rove: "We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality--judiciously, as you will--we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors...and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do." Power determines reality and analysis dutifully, subserviently, records the results, realigning the perceptions of events to match the theory. What is truth, that you are mindful of it? Remember, narcissistic neocons own (literally) the media and the corporations; they have the power to force the words to say anything they require them to. The only freedom remaining, as I see it, is in the internet. They haven't figured out a way to control it -- yet. Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
