The dress code is left up to the individual's conscience in a face-off with community sensibilities. Example: one of our youth showed up two Sundays ago in pants down to there, exposing places upon which the sun hasn't smiled in many moons (I love mixing metaphors).
One member of the congregation asked him if his dress (or lack of it) reflected how he felt about our church and would he mind explaining why. The kid got a funny look on his face, blushed, hitched up his pants and no more was said. Last Sunday he came in regular jeans and clean tee shirt, and the member who had spoken to him patted the seat next to her and invited him to join her during the service. If he hadn't adjusted his ways (and his pants), we probably would have had one of the older men in the congregation counsel him. Or explain the laws on indecent exposure.
