Laptop ICU -- or rather, I don't see you.

I gathered up the laptop, the XP software, the power cord and the carrying case and delivered them all to the nice folks at Preferred Computer Parts. They are located in an industrial park with reflecting pools, planters and trees.

The person who received the wounded machine clucked sympathetically and said this happens all the time. As if having your lifeline to the greater world snapped were no big deal. I do have access from work, but it is limited.

Now I wait on nins and peedles for word from computer ICU. Who would have thought a laptop could become a member of the family, my access to the world wide web a vital part of my life?

Waiting for the phone to ring....
