In a moment of synchronicity, I tuned in just as Colin Powell was preparing, as it turned out, to endorse Senator Barack Obama for president.

He spoke as a statesman, not as a partisan. His comments were thoughtful, honest, and he gave each candidate his due.

I particularly rejoiced at his saying what the candidate cannot say: Obama is a Christian, not a Muslim. But so what? What's wrong with being a Muslim?

He had the courage to speak his mind. Good for him!

Vote, even if it looks like a done deal (there will be voters who change their minds in the booth). Vote! Let those GOP chickens go back to their roosts.
