2009-03-19 10:26 AM Scared Straight? Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (4) A busy time, most of it centered around things medical. Husband had a medical procedure scheduled (kind of scary) and just before it had tingling in hand and arm, then the arm went numb and dropped to his side, useless.
Naturally, the fear was that he had had a stroke, so they whisked him off for an MRI. Only he has to be completely sedated for an MRI, because he shakes so badly.... Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I had a scleral haemorrhage (what the doctor called it, but he didn't tell me how to spell it) and the bright red in my eye scared me, but I was too busy with my husband's emergency to pay attention to my own. As soon as he was sedated, and in the ER, I took myself to my own doctor. My doctor said not to worry, patted me on the head and sent me on my way, much relieved. However, I think my husband's "event" has scared him enough to decide to lose weight (though not to exercise--nothing will do that, not even death). He bought Nutri System food, and I have stayed home to help him get started for a few days (what's protein? what's dairy? how much? how often?). I knew, of course, that it was going to turn into a major project for me (buying and measuring and cooking and serving), but if he can lose weight and diet, not die, it will have been worth it. I can just see my future after I retire...a large, non-bouncing baby boy, requiring full-time care. Who knew "service" would be so close to home? Don't have to go out and look for opportunities to be of service; have my own built-in, right here at home. How convenient. Read/Post Comments (4) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
