Those of us who are in church on any particular Sunday in July and August often find ourselves multi-tasking. Today I was Sunday Sexton (sound system, chairs, hymnals, candles, chalice) and hospitality (coffee, bagels, cream cheese, strawberries) and also Lay Worship Leader (also called Pulpit Host in other churches, though I think it smost uneuphonic phrase)--Chalice Lighting, Welcome, antiphonal reading. Needless to say, I was a bit busy, but it's a labor of love for me. Emerson Unitarian Universalist Church is my spiritual home and my family/community. I experienced such joy to be back among my family and surrounded by friends and familiar faces. Home again after the service, lunch and a nice long sinking spell. Followed by an enjoyable (though unproductive) huddle with the puzzle book my companion gave me. I fear that I've become addicted--and it's all her fault. I must think of some way to repay the favor. Heh. My SO is infected with travel fever now. He's researching cruise tours that go up and down the west coast. So maybe in October.... I've told him I won't take him out of range of the VA hospital system, so Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and New Zealand are out. As well as Antarctica and the North Pole. That still leaves a lot of latitude for recreational car travel or cruising. We may have started a trend. Need to do some serious number-crunching and see when I can retire.
