I know what they say, "Never volunteer for anything." But when our monthly newsletter editor resigned from the position, I asked how much of a commitment would be required....

And now I'm the editor. My first assignment was to pick up the articles in the editor's mailbox and I botched it. Went straight home instead of stopping in the office. Not an auspicious start, but I'll go by tomorrow and get whatever's in there.

I've done lots and lots of editing in my career (for money) and in friendship (for the love of the written word). How hard can it be? So long as I don't have to sit in boring, useless meetings, I'll happily volunteer.

I may regret this--or I may find it rewarding, as so many of my forays into the world of the written word have been. Time will tell.
