2010-06-26 1:47 PM Horns, The Sounding Thereof Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (2) Early in the morning, before the sun was up,
I lay in bed and listened to the birdies cheering up. Then alongside the house a van did sidle by, And sound its horn, not once but twice and by and by. Which got me to thinking...I live near a school and there used to be such a racket of horn blowing and tapping when school was out and parents were picking up their children by car (god forbid they should walk the three blocks home in one of the safest neighborhoods in the city)... but now, thanks to the proliferation of cell phones I hardly ever hear someone sounding the "beep beep" of impatience across the street, the exception being the nanny who doesn't have a cell phone or the angry man who just wants to do it to express his ire. An unintended (good) consequence of cell phones. I hope the person in the van gets his soon. Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
