People helpful, knowledgeable, supportive. Terrific. It was the second time we've been to West Hills and both times I have been favorably impressed. Norm complained about the slow service, but he's not going to get the minute-by-minute care he demands (and receives) from me and Edith (the nurse I've hired). And after triage, when they determined he was not in imminent danger of expiring, they ordered tests and put him to bed. He was incensed at the lack of care, as he perceived it. But after a shot of morphine for pain, and tests for infection and brain and heart damage, what else could they do? Hover? Institution care doesn't leave time for hand-holding, even for terminal patients. When I walked in the door, the doctor met me immediately (he was stationed so he could see new visitors enter), explained what had been done, and showed me how to get to Norm's room. He answered all my questions, made time for me. Wow. Not your old-fashioned hospital, at all. Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
