2011-03-01 7:04 AM Playing Hookey (sort of) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (2) It feels strange to be taking a day off from work in the middle of the week, sitting here with a leisurely cup of coffee, wearing jeans and tee shirt instead of my usual workday clothes, with time to read the email, pet the cats.
I had three tasks to perform for N, and I decided to do them all in one day, instead of trying to cram each one into a separate lunch hour on a different day, rushing frantically about in the middle of the day, snatching a bite to eat, returning to work for the afternoon, then too exhausted after work to do much more than crash in the first available comfortable chair. Not. Instead, I took the day off. We will be at the WLA VA, dropping off documents with the DAV person who is assisting N in his petition for a service connected disability award. Then we will do the cell phone thing, moving service from the old cell phone to the newer one which miraculously started working again (helps if he turns it on--it wasn't really dead). And for the grand finale I will escort him to his house which is now vacant to meet with a prospective tenant, the brother of a friend of mine. I don't want to be in the middle of the negotiations; my function is to provide transportation and escort (he is not allowed to travel on his own because of the severe danger of falling). Afterward we will find a fast food place to grab a bite of dinner, return to the VA for him, then drive the 20 miles to my house for me. I have promises to keep And miles to go before I sleep. And miles to go before I sleep. Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
