Then I completed the resignation form, had my site supervisor sign it, and last thing on my way home from work yesterday, dropped it in the mail box at the post office. Julius Caesar: jacta alea est December 23, 2011. Last employed day; retirement the next day. The Rubicon has been crossed and I am on the road to the rest of my life. 119 days until December 24th. The week between Christmas and New Year is required vacation time, so it makes sense to retire just before Christmas. Why burn the vacation days when I can get them as paid time when I retire? I've made the appointment to see the retirement agent to finalize the paperwork in mid-October. The agent is for the organization that manages the pension.
