I'm doing a lot of things today for the last time. Actually, all this past week I heard a running commentary in the back of my head, "This is the last time for ... [whatever it was]."

For some things, like calls from angry customers, I'm delighted to be saying, "Nevermore" and for other things (mostly people) I'm sad to be saying, "Good-bye". You know, that in spite of commitments to stay in touch, most of us will never see each other again.

Thank heavens for email, however. It's a great way to share funny or sad things, and an opportunity to still participate in each others' lives in a way that doesn't require waiting days and day for snail mail. I was never very good at writing letters by hand anyway--I don't have the patience for pen on paper when I can write so much faster on the keyboard.

So weird. As I typed the word "keyboard" above, my keyboard died. I could click "Save" with the mouse, but with the keyboard, nothing. Had to put in fresh batteries. And my email client is ignoring my username/password. Excrement!
