There were 14 of us, so the staff set up a table for us in a room by ourselves.
I think it is usually used as a storage room. Quite dingy and scruffy walls, no fresh air or windows, bare walls. And the kitchen staff used it as a pathway from the kitchen to the main dining area. The air, therefore, smelled quite strongly of used cooking oil--you know, that sharp smell when oil has been heated too high too often. Nearly rancid, it really put me off. It also took forever for service. From the time we arrived, to the serving of dessert was nearly three hours in a noisy, smelly, hot room. The food was quite good, and I think the restaurant would be OK for small groups in the main dining room. But honestly, I think they just weren't quite capable of serving so many at once. The best part was the company and the conversation. These are friends from church, so you know the conversation was always lively and interesting. If we have another Dining Club get-together there, I think I'll beg off. Read/Post Comments (4) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
