A coyote killed Cookie last night. Such a good cat, and for 20 years old, still a wanderer. That's how the coyote got him--Cookie would visit the neighborhood, cadging handouts, door to door.

He was away from home, on a neighbor's front lawn--at least, that's where the coyote abandoned what was left of him. His owners (our neighbors next door) have buried him under his favorite rose bush.

I'm very sad. Cookie was a great cat.
