As I went walking this morning, about 15 minutes earlier than usual, it was clear that today was going to be one of those beautiful sunny southern California days that brought newcomers (mainly from the eastern seaboard) in droves, buying homes and setting up shop.

Sunny, the temperatures just right, birds all a-twitter and most people still at home, I guess, because there is no traffic on the street in front of my house.

Callie is curled up on my bed, in the exact geometrical center, of course, and Max is tucked under the water heater outdoors--his favorite nook from which he can view all comers and goers and not get stepped on. Should there be any treats forthcoming, he has only a few steps to his food bowl, an important factor in choosing a napping place.

My housemate is at her computer downstairs, I at mine up here, coffee in hand, with the windows open and just the hint of a breeze to freshen the air. Mario has quieted down, so all is calm and peaceful.

Life is good.
