Plop, Plop

OK, now, everybody of a "certain generation", hum along with me...

Plop, plop, fizz, fizz,
Oh, what a relief it is!

And so on.

For today, the relief is the joyous acceptance of light rain, greening grass, and the return of the hummingbirds to the back yard feeder. I haven't seen them in weeks, though maybe it's just that they have been staying mostly out of sight. They don't migrate, do they?

The grass is turning a brilliant green. Under the heavy cloud cover it positively glows in the dawning morning, almost too bright to look at directly. It other parts of the country, summer is when grass is green and winter the time of gray and brown. In southern California, quite the other way, in winter the grass grows greener every day.

Loving the mist/light rain as I walk. Sometimes it plops off leaves. Sometimes it falls gently as the quality of mercy, upon the place beneath.

With appreciation to Bob Stevenson and Billy Shakespeare.
