Summer Schedule

Time to move the exercise program to the summer schedule. Wednesday mornings I go to my Sage class (learning in retirement), and I get there early enough to go for a 20 or 30 minute walk.

This morning it was just too hot to do anything of the sort. And by now (midafternoon), it's 92 degrees. Up here on the second floor of my house, it's a lot hotter than that, and I've finally been forced to turn on the fans in both rooms. I may have to turn on the A/C briefly to cool it down before I go to bed and take the warm fuzzy blanket off the top.

Summer seems to have arrived whether I like it or not. The trees haven't leafed out yet, so they don't shade the house much--one reason why it's so hot in here. The first year after trimming the shade provided is always a bit scant, anyhow. I think it seems to me that summer has arrived suddenly because I spent most of the springtime feeling under the weather, being indoors.

I just now set the alarm clock for 6:30. I usually wake up before then, but in case I'm still slug-a-bed, the alarm will get me up to go walking in the cool of the early morning.

Time to get back in shape. I'm monitoring how many steps I take each day, but I don't know what's considered an "active" number. How many steps should a Little Old Lady set as her goal?

Trudge...trudge...trudge....
