2013-06-06 7:24 AM I Can See Clearly Now Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (7) Yesterday afternoon, just before closing time, I slithered into offices of my opthamologist and optometrist. I had left my reading glasses with the latter, to have the lenses replaced with my curent prescription, you remember, and have been struggling along each day using bifocals shoved up the bridge of my nose and/or over-the-counter readers. Total pain in the nether regions.
But this morning I write to you from behind prescription reading glasses. I can see! Hallelujah! For someone who loves to read (and use electronic devices) as much as I, this is a great day. I surrendered two of my three pairs of glasses for distance, to have lenses replaced and to get the kind that darken in sunlight (transitions). Squinting and rubbing my eyes from the glare finally convinced me of the wisdom of getting prescription sunglasses. That, and the fact that I have early stage of cataracts, thanks to having hazel eyes and spending many years on the road and outside thanks to my job. I've used OTC sunglasses, but now I'll have them all in one. So all in all, much visual happiness. Must guard my one remaining pair of distance glasses carefully for the next couple of weeks, no backup pair, without them I can't drive. Hmmm...now, there would be a total excuse for staying home, wouldn't there? Or...all my wonderful friends would be offering me rides (you know they would). *Happy Dance* for glasses. If the world comes crashing down during The Big One, may I not break my last remaining pair of glasses (thinking of The Twilight Zone episode). Hope your day is clear and bright. May you live in peace and joy. Read/Post Comments (7) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
