2013-06-16 8:20 AM Father's Day Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (1) In another hour and a half (or so) I'll be on my way to Emerson, where the requisite Father's Day service will be held. I'd skip this one if I were just going by my own preference, but as a member of the community (my extended family) I'm obligated to attend.
Maybe "obligated" is too strong a word. If I miss a Sunday, my friends worry about me and want to know if I'm all right. My minister asks if there was something about the service that kept me away (I've shared my dislike for these artificial required topics which are spiritual or uplifting or inspirational only by dint of much effort on the part of the preacher and of much imagination on the part of the churchgoer). So as part of a community, I attend, whether I'm interested in the topic or not. The human contact and conversation fills my day with light. And there are free goodies and coffee afterward. Be well, my friends. Pay no attention to the curmudgeon behind the curtain. Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
