Last Day of June

Just as I went to sleep last night, my leg and foot started to cramp. Unbelievably painful. My roommate told me about eating dill pickle, or drinking pickle juice, as a remedy, so I hobbled downstairs (step, thump, step, thump) and fished out the jar of dill pickles from the back of the fridge.

Wow. She was so right. Five, 10, minutes later, the cramp was all gone, and I was fine the rest of the night. When I get around to googling it, I'll see if I can find out why it works better than drinks with electrolytes. The effect was nothing short of miraculous.

I finally got up the courage to look at the forecast for today. Ay-yup. Another scorcher (110). So staying indoors another day. Tomorrow I can escape to the library, where it's always cool and quiet. And I'm running out of coffee (aaack!) so I'll make a trip to TJ's early.

The a/c has been tripping the circuit breaker at the peak temperatures, so I wanted an alternate plan. What Sue calls OPAC (other peoples' air conditioning).

And dinner will be salad with shrimp on it. I found some frozen cooked shrimp in the bowels of the chest freezer, cached against a time such as this. (Once a planner, always a planner.) Also for lunch, maybe just fruit and cheese. A traditional standby quick meal.

There. Today is planned. Read, eat, drink, stay cool. Not necessarily in that order.

I hope your Sunday is a day of rest and that you can enjoy it fully.
