Managing Food

I've been thinking about the management of how I eat. I really have the "maintenance" thing nailed. I have stayed within a pound or so of my current weight for months now, and it's easy on 1200 calories a day.

But what I want to do is lose some more weight and that's being a problem. The only strategy I can think of is to eliminate my midday meal, or at the most have a few nuts and a piece of fruit to keep the energy up.

I have to have breakfast (high protein) to get started and be active during the morning, and I have to have dinner (early) so that I can sleep. I've discovered that going to bed hungry really disrupts my sleep, especially if I wake up during the night. I'm not a night grazer, so I don't eat, but I can't go back to sleep, either.

So that leaves the middle of the day. My guess is that I won't be able to fast from breakfast until dinner (11 hours), although I'm going to give it a try. I've tried it before, and experienced a blood sugar crash--lightheaded, weak, shaky. That isn't going to work, long term. Or even short term.

I'm open to suggestions, if you have any bright ideas, things that have worked for you.

One idea occurred to me as I was writing this. I could divide breakfast into two sub-portions, eating half at 6:30 when I get back from my walk, and the other 11 a.m. or so, stretching out the intake. Hmmmm.....
