courir dans les tournesols

Bonjour! Je m'appelle Mechaieh. This is where I dork around about pop songs, slang, and other diversions. I'm neither particularly functional nor fluent in French, other than owning a decent dictionary, so suggestions, corrections, and amplifications are most welcome.

The title means "Running Around in the Sunflowers" (song by Marc Lavoine).

"difficult to translate" (Agassi on Nadal)

From the NYT tennis blog:

Agassi, who retired after the 2006 United States Open, said he was cheering for Federer. "I think he's earned this opportunity, and I think in many respects he deserves it," Agassi said. "If it wasn't for one sort of freak of nature from Majorca, he would have won this tournament probably already a handful of times."

With the audience tittering, the moderator for the news conference, the French television commentator Nelson Monfort, interjected in French, "That will be difficult to translate."

Agassi, sensing some level of discomfort with his choice of words, said: "Freak of nature is a compliment where I come from."
