Work: no kids, as it's conference week. Parents come to conference, and in between appointments, teachers try to use all the time to catch up on everything they wish they had been doing all year. I did two conferences (one a no-show), defrosted the freezer in my classroom fridge, entered a kid's eval report into our online reporting system, helped a colleague figure out how to finish (begin) her progress reports, and got ready for a big IEP tomorrow. Passed on a really-not-fun parent situation to my special services director. That felt good (for me) and bad (because I knew she would have to deal with the parent and the parent advocate). Massage: it's kind of backward to get the massage and then go punish yourself by moving another carload of stuff. Ferry: got a call from Glen in Iraq. The exchange let us talk for over 19 minutes! The limit is usually about ten minutes. I spent the entire ferry ride talking to someone I like very much. Good times. Home: Put together the TV cart. Long and low IKEA deal. All was going well, until I realized that I had to remove the wheels; the floor is sloped enough that the cart kept rolling toward me no matter what I did. Taking off the wheels solved most of the problem. Shimming up the right front part with about an inch of folded cardboard solved the rest. I realized that tomorrow I have choir, which means I will not be leaving the island to do a Tacoma run, and therefore do not need to unload the car tonight. Hallelujah! Mama mixed herself a gin and tonic and retrieved the Burrito Supreme from the car, answering in the affirmative the age-old question, "is G&T the proper libation to accompany Taco Bell cuisine?" The only question to be answered after that was, "Can one partake of the new Ritter Sport chocolate creme-flavored candy bar while alternately sipping the aforementioned G&T?" Again, entirely within the realm of possibility. Thank goodness. Contemplating the next trip reveals that I no longer have a plan. All of the regularly shaped items have come to the island. It's catch as catch can from here on out. I have three ferry tickets left. I think I will need more. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
