I'm sitting at a desk, not 50 feet from the same Colvos Passage upon which I live, but this time farther south. A blue and white tug is pulling an empty gravel barge southward into the wind. The water is uniformly pebbled by a gentle, southwesterly breeze of about 4 knots.
