Pain/Gain aftermath (for Debby, et.al.)

It went fine, the last test in kinesiology. A little too well, but I'll take a high B. No problem.

We had a five-page written test, some multiple choice, some fill-in, some listing of things like "list ten muscles that attach to the scapula, not including the rotator cuff muscles". I got 82%. I don't do well on multiple choice because I really dissect the intention of the question, its semantics, and I can get all confused that way.

Then there was the practical. We walked into the adjacent room, picked a random piece of paper, on which was written a muscle. I got the triceps brachii. I had to name its origin, insertion, and all actions it performs at all joints.

I also had to palpate 5 bony landmarks (ie: the crest of the lesser tubercle of the humerus) and name one muscle that attached to each.

I got 98% on the practical, but I felt I didn't really earn that because the tester was a little too helpful. If I had to do that practical with absolutely no assistance whatsoever, I feel I might have gotten about 80%. But I know what I don't know, and I will learn it at my own pace.

I ended the term at 92% overall in kinesiology, one percentage point from an A. If I hadn't missed a few classes (due to plans made long before I even decided to go to school) I would have had an A for sure. My GPA must be in the A range, because I had A's in the other three classes.

That's how it ended up, with some notes taken about how to proceed next term. Live and learn. And live.
