2007-08-24 9:03 PM Kendall Katwalk: Veni, Vedi, Vavoom! (pics) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (3) I, the formerly anxiety-ridden acrophobic ("dysfunction in maintaining balance" type) have now walked the Kendall Katwalk. Twice. This very day.
Of course, I've not been cured of certain forgetfulness that might result, say, in my leaving the f***ing camera in the car for this momentous occasion! So here are the stats, and then some pics that other people took. Hike: Kendall Katwalk, Pacific Crest Trail #2000 Start/End: Snoqualmie Pass Lunch Stop and turnaround point: Ridge Lake, ~7 miles Total elevation gain: ~3000 feet Time on trail: 4 hours up, 3 hours down Calories burned: "You burn 4150.69 calories during 420 minutes of Hiking" (according to Self magazine, for a woman who weighs 166 pounds US [I'm lighter in Imperial, ha ha], which was my weight this morning). I will never again begrudge myself a cheeseburger after a day of hiking! Injuries (see last pic below): swollen ankles due to friction in the front of the new boots. (I'm icing as I type.) It's as if someone sliced a golf ball in half and put one half under the skin at the top of my foot where it meets the front of my ankle. Not painful, no loss of function or range of motion, just hard, swollen, and hot. (Sounds like a date I once had.) Lunch and snacks: Essential Sandwich Thai burrito, Sahalie Snacks (the variety with mango, macadamias, hazelnuts, chili powder, etc.), a gin and tonic for Scoutie, a Stella Artois for PTGal, three Ghirardelli chocolate squares, dried mango slices. And now for something completely different: The faraway view: A more intimate view: Ridge Lake close up: Ridge Lake in snow: The injury, right foot, medial anterior portion of ankle (ice, I know!): Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
