2007-08-28 8:54 PM Meander Meadows Trip (pics) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (2) I'm too tired to tell all the stories, but I promise I will. The long and short of it:
- 14.4 miles - ahem - numerous boot modifications - one very patient and encouraging Cajun - scenery - bears, way far away - a big ol' Zeke's burger on the way home For now, here is a sample of the pics from the Meander Meadows trip. Ready to hike...in the rain. Mist in the hills as we head up... And up. Where we've come from. The Meadow, looking NW, with campsite in the foreground. The toilet... ...with the best view in America. The campsite my dad and I used in 1976. Water is safe if you are using a particulate filter and a SteriPen. The mighty Wenatchee River, where it begins. The Meadow herself. Our bearhang, with my soaking, filthy "quick-dry" pants. However, it must cease raining for the quick-dry feature to enable. A man and his JetBoil. It's a beautiful thing. Our first peek at blue sky. Proof for TulipTiff's daughter that Teacher Scout wore the hat she was given for Christmas last year. Bear country (note the scratched-up snag!). The new trail across the Meadow, on the flank of Kodak Peak. The heather is in bloom. Kodak Peak. Well named. The view to the NW from Sauk Pass, at the junction of Little Wenatchee Trail 1525 and Pacific Crest Trail 2000. Also the county line between Snohomish and Chelan counties. The meadow below is where our camp is. We hiked an additional 700 feet up to see Sauk Pass. Johnson Mountain (as near as I can tell from the Green Trails Map). Scout loves the PCT! More proof that we attained Sauk Pass. Another shot at the Meadow. We passed this flower dozens of times. It wanted to be preserved. Our small but effective campfire. Drown it, stir it, feel it, thanks! One last shot down the valley in the early morning. Narrative soon. Pester me if I get sidetracked. I have a cold (try sleeping in 40-degree weather with two plugged nostrils!) and I intend to sleep a good portion of tomorrow. Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
