Here's what I have read that wasn't on the last list. These are things I loved, hated, or knew were brilliant despite my not understanding them.

Favorites:

Tales of the City - all 6 books of the series are good; the first three are better than the latter three. What a great cast of characters in a wild romp through SF high and low societies.

The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul - in case you were wondering what the Norse gods do when we down here make stupid decisions.

The Pop-up Kama Sutra - nice drawings, funny presentation.

Skrallan and the Pirates - A large picture book by Astrid Lindgren (of Pippi fame), about a small girl named Skrallan, who is on summer holiday with her family on Saltcrow Island. When I was small, I knew I was Skrallan.

The Encyclopedia of Bad Taste - Breasts, Enormous. That's all I'm gonna say.

Earthsea (x4) - I love Ursula LeGuin's quiet, dark, brooding, hopeful settings.

The Chronicles of Narnia - bedtime reading since age 12 or so. Purity on the pages.

Life After God - Douglas Coupland knows my mind. It's almost creepy.

Onkel Tom's Stuga - A very old copy of Uncle Tom's Cabin in Swedish, complete with ads in the back for ships that will take you to America.

Givens:

The Lord of the Rings trilogy

A Wrinkle in Time, A Wind in the Door, A Swiftly Tilting Planet

The Handmaid's Tale

The Penis Book

GarageBand for Dummies

Knots

Ship Shape and Bristol Fashion

Sexual Behavior and the Human Female (thanks, Dex, for that vintage copy!)
