2008-06-22 9:53 AM Roehl's Hill Views (pics) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (1) These are pics I took from the top of the road on Roehl's Hill. This extremely steep dirt road looks like it used to be a logging road; there are flat turn outs every so often on either side of the road. The views are amazing. It's clear that this little corner of heaven has been discovered, as several small but luxurious houses are being built. However, the sites near the top have been left alone. Well, it's clear that there have been a few parties, but hey, it's an island. The kids will always find somewhere.
But I digress. What a great fantasy yurt site! No need to plumb (composting toilet, hauled water), no need for eletricity (though I'm sure it's been brought up to the existing sites), just a flat place for the yurt with a 270-degree view of the islands, the Olympics and Mt. Baker. It's worth looking into, but I know I can't afford it. Dreams are free! Southwest, toward Port Angeles and the Olympic Peninsula: Southeast, toward Mt. Vernon, the Skagit Valley and the Cascade Mountains: East-southeast, toward Bellingham and Mt. Baker (it is faintly seen just bove the island and to the left of that deciduous tree in the left part of the photo): Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
