Main Entry: vertigo Part of Speech: noun Definition: dizziness Synonyms: disequilibrium, giddiness, lightheadedness, loss of balance, loss of equilibrium, shakiness, spinning head, unsteadiness, wobbliness, wooziness Yup. Dat's dem. And you can add: nausea, intense appetite, sensitivity to smells and light, lethargy, fever, body aches, and general don't mess with me-ness. Started Wednesday night. Really bad in the middle of the night; I rolled over in bed and the world immediately spun like a Tilt-a-Whirl. A Tilt-a-Whirl that wouldn't stop. I spent about an hour with intense nausea, but got it to slow some. Thursday morning was better, so I went to work. But after being there just a few hours, I knew I had to leave. It sucked that my boss had to cover for me, but that's just how it goes sometimes. After picking up some Mongolian Beef at the Chinese/Pizza place (which is actually good), I went to my mom's. She has the meds that are mine but that she needed a while back. I repatriated two of the pills right into my needy gullet, ate all the Mongolian Beef (decent, but not stellar, I had to admit), and slept on the couch for 3 hours. Went home, repeated scenario with other food and more pills, and went to bed. This morning still a little spinny, but I made it through the day by being smart and TAKING THE MEDS WITH ME. This made enough difference that I was able to do my day with minimal thought for the spins. In fact, I started the day at a job interview, where I was videotaped doing receptive and expressive signing, and was given the full application to fill out and send in. They want me! I'm in bed again tonight, still a bit spinny, with a full day ahead of me tomorrow. So it's food, pills, and work until 3pm, then hangin' with my niece. She just bought 5 movies at Target, so I'm sure that will have some bearing on our choice of activities. Peace out, yo, and sleep to y'all.
