me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

So what's it like here?

It's quiet. The Republicans, as I said yesterday, are in the convention, or their hotels, or the stores. They're not on the streets. New Yorkers are gone, vacationing in droves. (Bet the North Road out by Rancho Obsesso is undrivable!) Protesters are out, in lots of creative actions, large and small. You can read my mouthpiece's blog for some of them. Myself, I'm going to join the circle of light tonight, a silent event where a chain of people will stand with candles or upturned flashlights all along the perimeter of Manhattan as a symbolic anti-war statement. And tomorrow morning I'll be on the World's Longest Unemployment Line.

And Thursday, though I have tickets to a Liberty game in Radio City, I should be done in time for the Great American Shout-out, my favorite protest so far.
