me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Shout it out

Well, my mouthpiece and I both managed to make it through RNC week in NY without being arrested. He was more ambitious in his activities; for accounts, read his blog, linked above. He's also linked to other people's blogs, so you can put together a rather good picture of what the young left is thinking and doing, from there.

Thursday night was the last action I did, the Great American Shout-out. This was a project of Al Franken and Air America. It was simple. At the moment George Bush first appeared on the platform, people opposed to his re-election ran to their windows, threw them open and shouted, "FUGGEDABAHDIT!" That's if you were in NY or spoke NY. Otherwise, "Oh, no you don't!" or "I don't THINK so!" or anything else that worked for you was fine. I was in Union Square, a traditional NY hotbed of leftist thinking. A huge, though raggedy (the left isn't real big on unison) chant of "FUGGEDABAHDIT!" went up, started by people listening to the convention on the radio. I've also heard from people who shouted out at home in NY and around the country, and they've said they heard other shouters from other buildings in their neighborhoods. Gives one hope, that does.
