I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us! |

2005-01-28 1:49 PM Just so's we know The U.S. Senate voted 85-13 Wednesday to confirm Condoleezza Rice as Secretary of State. Here are the 13 senators who voted against her confirmation:
Barbara Boxer, D-Calif. Daniel Akaka, D-Hawaii Richard Durbin, D-Ill. Evan Bayh, D-Ind. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa Edward Kennedy, D-Mass John Kerry, D-Mass. Carl Levin, D-Mich. Mark Dayton, D-Minn. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J. Jack Reed, D-R.I James Jeffords, I-Vt. Robert Byrd, D-W.Va. If I lived in one of those states, I'd write and thank my senator. In fact, I think I'll do it anyway. I wish the senators from NY, liberal Democrats both, had been able to take this symbolic but to me important stand. Yes, I know why they didn't: a President deserves the cabinet he wants, assuming his nominees are competent. Well, he'd have gotten her, 85-13 or 83-15. So why not make a statement?
